What are payment links?
Payment links let customers pay for bookings, memberships, activities, and subscriptions through MATCHi’s online checkout. When a payment link is active, the customer receives payment instructions in their confirmation email and can pay via the MATCHi app or website.
Enabling payment links
Payment links must be enabled per article type in your venue settings. You can enable them separately for:
- Bookings
- Memberships
- Activities
Your venue must have online payment processing (Adyen) enabled. Contact MATCHi support if you need to activate this feature.
Sending a payment link
Payment links are not sent automatically. As an administrator, you choose when to activate a payment link:
- Bookings – select payment link as the payment method when creating or editing a booking.
- Memberships – activate the payment link from the membership management view.
- Activities – toggle the payment link from the activity occasion’s participant list.
You can also toggle payment links on and off from the Orders view.
What the customer sees
When a payment link is active, the customer:
- Receives an email with payment instructions.
- Logs in to MATCHi (app or website) and navigates to their unpaid orders.
- Clicks Pay to complete the payment through the online checkout.
- Receives a receipt after successful payment.
Requirements for customers
For a customer to pay via a payment link, they must:
- Have a MATCHi user account linked to their customer profile.
- Have a valid email address (to receive the payment notification).
- Not be set as the default booking customer.
For family memberships, only the family contact person can pay via the payment link.
Expiry and validity
- Payment links remain valid for up to 240 days (approximately 8 months) from the order’s delivery date.
- For bookings, the payment link expires when the booked time has passed.
- For memberships, the link expires when the membership end date has passed or the membership is deactivated.
- Orders with a price of 0 do not generate payment links.
When to use other payment methods
Payment links are ideal when the customer should handle payment themselves. For situations like company subscriptions where invoicing is preferred, or when collecting payment on site, choose a different payment method instead.
