How to create a new round

Create a new round

A new round is created under the New round menu in Backhandsmash Admin. Follow these steps in order:

Step-by-step

  1. Date – name the round, set the start date, and the last day and time for reporting results. Optionally set how many steps/divisions the times should rotate each week. With 1 step, division #1 swaps times with division #2 the second week; with 2 steps, division #1 swaps with division #3, and so on.
  2. Groups – add any new groups. Change the number of teams per division by changing the game template.
  3. Players – click Get results, then perform promotion and relegation. Delete finishing teams, adjust moves, and add new teams.
  4. Weeks – click Get weeks. Delete any weeks that should not be scheduled. Individual game days can be moved to the end of the series by first deleting that week, then moving a game day to it.
  5. Preview – click Update preview. Wait for all groups to turn green. Click each group to review the schedule carefully.
  6. Create the round – this creates the round but does not publish it.
  7. Delete times – remove game times for specific teams. For example, if team X cannot play on Thursdays, delete all Thursday slots for that team.
  8. Add times – add game times to replace deleted ones. Select the day, time, and court. Note: the time must also be added in MATCHi on the customer intended for league play.
  9. Add extra times – make sure the date range matches the one booked in MATCHi. Click Save.
  10. Activate the round – the round becomes visible to players and match times are published.

Note: For instructions on extending with more divisions or teams, see Larger and/or more divisions.
